Some of my favorite fruit is on sale this week – Sacramento River Delta Pears from the Elliott Family in Courtland. Nom nom nom.
So I started thinking about what I could make with – and pair – with them:
All of my wine picks are under $10!
Poached Pears with Shaved Chocolate and Cream
Ridiculously easy – and you can use the bottle of Muscat to cook with and drink. Best of both worlds.
Pair with: Perry Creek Muscat
Chicken with Fresh Pears and Honey Vinegar
I’ve not tried this dish, but one of our writers, Jennie Teel-Wolter, swears by it. And I trust anyone with her level of Martha Stewart-ability.
Pair with: Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay
Ham with Maple Mustard Glazed Pears
(Save a few bucks by picking up our Raley’s Maple Syrup!)
Pair with: Loredona Riesling
Pear and Prosciutto Pizza
So easy I could do it.
Pair with: Monkey Bay Rosé or a blanc de noirs sparkling wine
Grilled Brie and Pear Quesadillas
Pair with: Fat Bastard Chardonnay
Cabbage, Pear and White Bean Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette
Great with barbecue.
Pair with: Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc (one of my faves and a great buy right now!)
(Just between you, me and the rest of the internet, we've got a new wine tab breaking next Wednesday - over 225 wines on sale. Shh.)
