Each new wine tab is like a wonderland to me when I hit the stores.
Oh sure, I blog about it here. And work on the ads. But that's weeks old by the time it hits stores.
Plus, as I've noted before, there are more wines on sale than just the ones on the monthly tab.
So I'm strolling through the store, hitting that crazy steak sale last weekend, and duck my head in the wine aisle.
Deal that knocked me off my feet? MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir for 16.99. Regular price, friends: 27.99.
Niiiice.
My inability to pass by a deal like that has been duly noted in this blog before.
I wanted to get more than one because the price was so good and love that wine, but you know, the whole steak sale thing was calling.
(If you feel like splurging, I'd point out that by buying 6 bottles, you can save 10%. Alternatively, you buy one or two MacMurrays, and four or five of a lower-priced wine, like this month's $5.55 Meridians and still save 10%.)
I was unable to resist a bottle of Tapeña Tempranillo for $6.99 (about $4 off). And then I had to walk past a bottle of one of my under-$10 faves - Wrongo Dongo (on sale for $7.99).
This week, we've got another hot steak sale - this time on Sutter Sirloin (just $2.59 lb.)
Best steak-friendly pairings?
