Wine Club

Welcome to the Raley's Wine Club!
Let's raise our glasses to great tips and great picks

Friendly folks, yummy wines.

Dancing Bull - just $6.99 all month long.

Ribs plus Zin? I'm so there.

Every Wednesday, I'll be talking about what's on sale this week, or answer your wine and food pairing questions, sharing a great wine you want to tell the rest of the club about, or even telling your story about how your tasting party went (write me and tell me - I'd love to hear about it!)

For starters, there are over 140 wines on sale this month (woohoo!). At a buck or two over $10 ($11.99, to be exact), you'll find a great wine for all your summer barbecue: Montevina's yummy Terra d'Oro Zinfandel from Amador County with big and juicy blackberry, plum and vanilla flavors. Normally, this wine is nearly $18 - so you might want to buy an extra bottle or two. I'm just sayin'...

If you're a Zin fan (or like a good Sauvignon Blanc), make sure to check out the great price on our wine of the month: Dancing Bull, also from the Foothills, for $6.99. Iit's perfect for your Fourth of July barbecue and four-day weekend. (The Sauv Blanc even has a screwtop, so you don't have to find a corkscrew!)

Thanks for joining - I'll see you with more good stuff next week! (And let me know what you'd like to know, talk or share about!)

What a fun new club. Does anyone have a recommendation for a refreshing white to serve with desserts?  -  (jennieanne 07/02/08 @ 08:39 AM)
Love the first newsletter! As for a refreshing wine with dessert, I like the Ironstone Obsession Symphony. Retail price is around $8. Here is the descrioption from the Ironstone website, "Gold Medal, San Francisco Chronical Wine Competition, January 2007 Ironstone's Obsession has youthful aromas that are markedly floral. Extremely drinkable, this lusciously brilliant and fanciful wine is full of fruit flavors, and finishes crisp and clean."  -  (sandimom 07/03/08 @ 08:40 AM)
That sounds yummy. Thanks Sandimom!  -  (jennieanne 07/03/08 @ 10:08 AM)
This is a great new club. So far I have enjoyed all the news and can not wait to try a few of the receipes. I will be going to the Russian River area in a couple of weeks. I will post some of my favorites from there. Another type of wine to try with desserts is a good riseling. One I really like is Blue Moon from Oregon.  -  (MogoSusie 07/03/08 @ 08:43 PM)
Thanks for the great feedback, all. Jennieanne - Bonny Doon Vin de Glacier and Jackson-Triggs Icewine are also great with fruit desserts, although they're a bit of a splurge. Sandimom - great call on the Obsession! It's also really good with spicy food. MogoSusie - I look forward to hearing your picks from the Russian River. I love it there..I'll have to check out Blue Moon.  -  (alulie 07/08/08 @ 08:38 AM)
I am so excited about the new Raley's Wine Club! Thanks for putting it together for us loyal Raley's shoppers! I look forward to using my $2 coupon!  -  (VP-ATF 08/07/08 @ 04:39 PM)
I agree w/ MogoSusie a riesling is the best fit for desserts the wine itself is on the sweet side.  -  (Ross 01/13/09 @ 07:22 PM)
The wine discount coupon is way out of date - expired over a month ago. Please keep the site current.  -  (Dickie 04/15/09 @ 12:48 PM)
Our apologies - you'll find a new coupon there now.  -  (Alyssa Lulie 04/28/09 @ 12:15 PM)
