Oh boy!!!!!!!!!! OK, I'm a little overly excited about it, I know, but I lovvvvvvvvvvvve a sale.
Here is my top ten from this month's sale wines (in no particular order other than the order with which I looked at the tab and made a note):
Toasted Head Cabernet Sauvignon
A State Fair Award-winner and a very good Cab for $10.
Trinchero Chardonnay
The Trinchero wines are a great buy (about $8) and very easy-drinking on a patio on a hot summer night in Sactown, Reno, Modesto, Alameda, Red Bluff...
Quady Elysium
Another State Fair awardwinner - this dessert wine is great with a Blackberry Tart (hello, current Something Extra magazine!)
Bogle Chardonnay
An oh-so-tasty California Chard for under $10.
Cline Viognier
A (low-cost) chance to try a very unique varietal with big peach and apricot flavors and very very floral aromas of honeysuckle.
Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon
A squidge over $10, but still an outstanding buy for the price.
Rosenblum Zinfandel
A justifiably famous (and yummy Zin) for $10.
Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay
A great Chard for a hot summer’s night.
Kendall-Jackson Meritage
A meritage is a Bordeaux-style blend (think warm, rich and red). Like the Cline Viognier, this is a nice intro to meritage wines.
Mumm Blanc de Noirs
I love champagne. I love it fine. I love to drink it all the time. I love it best when Double Gold. I love it best when very cold.
OK, it’s totally not a wine, but can I say how much I love Pyramid Hefeweizen in the summer? Cool, citrus bliss. And 12-Packs are on sale this month for an itty-bitty $10.99? That is so money.
