Oroville Raley’s, Feather Falls Casino and the Chico CBS/NBC affiliate KHSL/KNVN teamed up for a Shopping Spree benefiting Oroville’s Salvation Army, our local Food For Families partner. One lucky winner got the chance to go on a shopping spree for groceries, while Feather Falls Casino pledged to match the amount and donate it to Food For Families.
With a live broadcast on the station's Morning News, Wake Up!, contest winner Julie McGlenister and her husband Chris had 3 minutes to load their carts with as many groceries as possible. As they stopped in departments all throughout the store on live television, Julie and Chris were able to grab $1,034.84 – 5 shopping carts filled with assorted groceries.
Feather Falls Casino matched the grocery total of $1034.84 and donated it to Foods For Families, to benefit The Salvation Army on Washington Ave. in Oroville. Raley's Oroville Store Director Rob Brzezinski helped present the check to Major Charles Norris of the Salvation Army. Highly appreciative of the donation, Major Norris said that contributions have been down this year.
Once the donation check was presented, contestant winner Julie announced that she and Chris wanted to donate the 5 carts of groceries to Food For Families! In those 3 minutes, The Salvation Army received not only a $1,034.84 donation, but another $1,034.84 worth of groceries for a grand total of $2,069.68.
A special thanks to Oroville Raley's for making this contribution to your local Food For Families partner a success!
