The freezer cases in the Raley's store on Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove are the first ones to receive an eco-friendly upgrade to motion-sensing LED technology, resulting in a 20 percent decrease in the freezer case lighting wattage.
Made possible by a partnership between Raley's, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and the California Lighting Technology Center, a test project launched to see how much wattage savings could be achieved with this new lighting solution.
This technology will become a standard in all new and remodeled stores.
