Over 500 Customers Share What They Are Celebrating This Year

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Within days of posing the question, "What are you celebrating?" on raleys.com, hundreds began sharing what called for celebration in their lives this year. As Raley’s marks 2010 with its 75th anniversary, the family owned company wanted to know what the year means to others – and has found a refreshing sense of joy, gratitude and optimism along the way.

"Before we had supported this effort with any type of advertising, hundreds of posts began collecting on the site" said Jennifer Teel-Wolter, Marketing Manager. "It is such a positive feeling, after what proved a challenging year for many, to see people share what is good in life. We’re all for celebrating the positive, and it appears others are ready to celebrate along with us."

As part of the fun, Raley’s is giving participants the chance at their share of $7,500 in gift cards in its 75 Ways to Win sweepstakes. One needn’t share their celebration plans to enter. One $75 gift card winner is drawn every day through March 31st. A grand prize winner will be selected at the close of the sweepstakes, for a $750 gift card. Customers can enter daily now through March 31, 2010. The posts are diverse, from small accomplishments to major feats -- people are sharing what is bright in their lives. Here are a few examples:

  • "A healthy family with a roof over our heads and jobs to pay the bills!"
  • "My husband and I have so much to celebrate this year! We just bought a house, love our jobs, and are expecting our first baby in March! 2010 has so much in store for us!"
  • "I woke up today. Waking up is always a good way to start the day!"
  • "My husband and I are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary.
  • "We continuously celebrate the 3 f's: food, family and friends. Our Sunday dinners are extra-special every week."
  • "Celebrating life. Heart attack survivor."
  • "I'm celebrating my blessings of being a "grammie" not once, not twice, but three times!!"

Raley’s founder, Tom Raley, opened his first store in Placerville, California in 1935. Today, the company still operates on his foundation of service and value for employees. The company continues to be privately held and family owned, led by Mr. Raley’s grandson, President & CEO Michael Teel.
