Raley's Kicks Off Annual Food For Families Holiday Bag Program

100% of Donations Benefit Local Food Banks

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Raley’s Food For Families Holiday Bag program offers customers a convenient, budget-friendly solution to make their charitable giving go further toward supporting local food banks in their neighborhoods.

Now through Friday, Dec. 31, the annual program allows customers to purchase a half-price bag of groceries containing more than 25 pounds of wholesome, nonperishable food for just $10. In addition to purchasing a Holiday Bag in stores, for the first time this year customers can also purchase online at www.raleys.com/order.

Last season, Raley’s customers and employees helped raise more than 1.3 million pounds of food through the Holiday Bag program. This year’s goal is to raise 2 million pounds of food to have an even greater impact on families in need.

At a time when food banks are at their greatest need for donations, Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees to ensure that 100% of donations go directly to local food banks. The partnering agency then distributes donations to the hungry in the neighborhood, so contributions remain in the community in which they are collected. Raley’s is partnered with 74 food banks throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada.

“The Food For Families program has been a vital resource in helping us to further our mission to find sensible solutions to hunger that effectively address its root causes: poverty and joblessness,” explained John Healey, President and CEO of California Emergency Foodlink.

Through the Food For Families program, customers can donate without making any additional errands or spending extra time driving to an agency to give, as donations are accepted at every checkstand in all Raley’s, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores. In addition to the Holiday Bags, donations to the Food For Families program can be made in any increment year-round at a collection box located at checkstands.
