Regional Raley's Reach Winners Announced
Five $1,500 Music Education Grants to be Awarded to Schools throughout Northern California and Nevada

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The Raley’s Reach program attracted 117 nominations and a total of 28,020 online votes as schools throughout Northern California and Nevada competed for five $1,500 grants to benefit music education programs.

In a continued effort to give back to the community, family-operated Raley’s Family of Fine Stores partnered with Campbell’s Labels for Education to provide a total of $7,500 in grants to schools in five specified regions.Nominations and votes were submitted by parents, PTAs, booster clubs and community members in each region.

The results are in and the winning school in each Reach-Region is:

Region 1 – Northern Nevada: Peavine Elementary School
Earning a total of 1,264 votes, Peavine Elementary School is located in Reno and is in need of storage space for musical equipment and new instruments. The school’s music teacher gave up her classroom to store musical equipment and they plan to use the grant toward purchasing a mobile storage cabinet. In addition, instrument purchases and replacements are needed for students who are unable to afford renting instruments.

Region 2 – Northern/Foothill: Saint Theresa School
Earning a total of 1,122 votes, Saint Theresa School is located in South Lake Tahoe and would like to provide K-8 students with access to musical theater. The school plans to use the grant toward hiring a vocal coach and purchasing costumes, instruments and props for a spring performance.

Region 3 – Greater Sacramento: Mariemont Elementary School
Earning a total of 2,615 votes, Mariemont Elementary School is located in Sacramento and is in need of purchasing and refurbishing a variety of musical instruments for in-class instruction and after-school band programs. Mariemont Elementary School received the most votes overall across the five regions and will also receive a $500 Raley’s gift card to celebrate.

Region 4 – Central Valley: Great Valley Academy
Earning a total of 1,726 votes, Great Valley Academy is located in Modesto and is a non-tuition public charter school. In an effort to continue offering both an orchestra and band program, the school aims to purchase 15 more instruments to reach the goal of providing an instrument for each student.

Region 5 – Greater Bay: Moreland Middle School
Earning a total of 2,070 votes, Moreland Middle School is located in San Jose and hopes to pursue the opportunity to participate in community parades and concerts. The school is currently using percussion equipment from the local high school, which is too large and heavy for middle school students. The school will use the grant money toward purchasing percussion equipment that is sized and weighted appropriately for students.

With 75 years of giving back to Northern California and Nevada communities, Raley’s offers the unique opportunity for grants to go where individuals recognize the greatest need. The Raley’s/Campbell’s partnership supporting music education programs recognizes two important interests: improving the lives of children and celebrating the arts.
