(Wednesday June 8, 2011)

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Raley’s Family of Fine Stores is offering customers a convenient, budget-friendly opportunity to support their neighborhood food bank by simply purchasing everyday products that may already be on their shopping lists.

Now through Tuesday, June 14, Unilever in partnership with Raley’s Food For Families program will donate 25 cents for every participating product purchased at Raley’s, Bel Air and Nob Hill Foods, up to $25,000. Unilever has selected more than 15 participating items from its food and personal care brands to be part of this effort.

“Unilever is proud to be partnering with Raley’s to help local food banks within the communities we jointly serve,” said Bill McGrath, Unilever West Division Director. “We know that food banks’ needs remain high during the summer but that this season isn’t top of mind for most people to make personal donations, so we specifically developed this program to help meet the critical need at this time of year.”

When a customer purchases any of the following products, Unilever will make a donation to local food banks.

  • Skippy® Peanut Butter (15–16.3 oz.)
  • Ragú® Pasta Sauce (1 lb.–1 lb. 8 oz.)
  • Wish-Bone® Salad Dressing (16 oz.)
  • Best Foods® Mayonnaise (22 oz.)
  • Lipton® Tea (20 count)
  • Breyers® products (1.5 qt.)
  • Klondike® Ice Cream Bars (6 count)
  • Bertolli® Frozen Meals
  • Magnum® Ice Cream Bars (3-pack)
  • I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Spread (15 oz.)
  • Brummel & Brown® Spread (15 oz.)
  • Promise® Spread (15 oz.)
  • Dove® Body Wash (24 oz.)
  • Dove® Shampoo (12 oz.)
  • Dove® Beauty Bar (6-pack)
  • AXE Body Wash (12 oz.)
  • AXE Deodorant Bodyspray (4 oz.)

The Food For Families program has raised more than $25 million and 15 million pounds of food through vendor partnerships, its holiday bag campaign and customer donations at checkstands. Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees to ensure that 100% of donations go directly to local food banks.

“During the summer months, the inventory from holiday food drives begins to dwindle and hunger continues to be a year-round problem in our community,” says John Healey, President/CEO of California Emergency Foodlink. “Raley’s Food for Families program provides overwhelming support to the more than 6 million people living in California who need food assistance.”

Raley’s is partnered with 74 food banks throughout Northern California and Nevada. To see where donations go in your local store, visit www.foodforfamilies.org.
