Our Checkpoint Certified Seafood Department Food Safety Program
Check Point Certified is a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) based program. Unannounced audits by NSF, an internationally recognized safety organization, are conducted in each of our stores.
NSF ensures our seafood food safety procedures not only meet, but exceed, government food safety standards. These rigid standards extend from the sea to the supermarket with checkpoints at every level.

Our Stores Are Certified To Carry Wild-Caught Seafood With The MSC Ecolabel
Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), a global non-profit organization,
developed the world's leading environmental standard for certifying
sustainable and well-managed wild-caught seafood. Independent,
third-party certifiers ensure that standards are met from sea to
stores.
Currently, we carry MSC-certified Alaskan salmon, Pacific halibut,
Pacific cod, Oregon shrimp meat, sea scallops and Chilean sea bass and
we are working on sourcing more MSC-certified products all the time.
For more information, go to msc.org.
Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP)
Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), a non-governmental
organization, partners with our stores and our suppliers to help us
source the most sustainable seafood available. SFP works worldwide to
improve fisheries and fish farm practices so Raley's can offer you the
quality and variety you expect.
Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for farmed seafood
The Global Aquaculture Alliance, a non-governmental organization, certifies that farmed seafood is raised in an environmentally and sustainable manner. They use third-party auditors to ensure suppliers meet their standards. Currently, all of our shrimp is BAP-certified and we are working on adding more BAP-certified choices to our stores.
