Toasty Egg Bakes
4 Old World Style Asiago Cheese slices
Cracked Pepper or Potato Rosemary Bread* (from our Fresh Service Bakery)
4 tsp. butter
4 ea eggs
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
2 tbsp. bacon cooked, crumbled
4 tsp. green onion tops sliced
1/2 cup Swiss or Cheddar cheese shredded
Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 12 to 14 minutes

Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut out the center of each bread slice, leaving a 1/2-inch rim around the edge. Spread 1/2 tsp. butter on each side.

In a large ovenproof skillet, cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes per side to lightly brown bread. Crack an egg into the center of each bread slice. Sprinkle eggs with salt and pepper; top each with 1/2 tbsp. bacon, 1 tsp. onions and 2 tbsp. cheese. Cook for 2 minutes more on the stove, then place skillet in the oven. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes or until eggs are cooked to desired doneness.

*Slice bread 1-inch thick; cut on a diagonal to make larger slices. If the bread isn’t cut thick enough, your eggs will spill over.

Makes 4 servings.
