Mint Juleps

Mint Julep
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 large fresh mint sprigs (3 inches long)
2½ cups bourbon
Small fresh mint sprigs

Prep: 10 minutes, Stand: Several hours or overnight, Serves: 10

1. Bring water and sugar to a boil in a medium saucepan; reduce heat and simmer until sugar has dissolved.

2. Squeeze large mint sprigs with your fingers to release the oils; place in saucepan.

3. Remove from heat and let steep for several hours or overnight; remove mint sprigs. For each serving, place 1 tbsp. mint syrup over ice in a glass.

4. Add 1/4 cup bourbon and stir rapidly with a spoon until glass is frosty. Garnish with small mint sprigs.
