Honeyed Cherry Biscuits

Honeyed Cherry Biscuits
Ingredients
2¼ cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup buttermilk, plus extra for brushing on tops
1/2 cup chopped dried cherries
3 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Honey Butter (recipe follows)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup honey
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions

Prep: 15 minutes, Cook: 10 to 12 minutes, Makes: 12 biscuits

1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in butter with a fork or pastry blender, then stir in buttermilk, cherries, honey and lemon juice.

2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured board; gently knead several times, then shape into a ball. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut into desired shapes.

3. Place on a greased baking sheet and brush tops lightly with buttermilk. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through. Serve warm with honey butter.

Honey Butter: Stir together 1/2 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup honey and 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
