Sweet and Hot Nuts
Sweet and Hot Nuts
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar divided
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
3 cups mixed nuts unsalted

Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 20 minutes Makes: 3 cups

1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Melt butter in a small saucepan; add 1 tbsp. sugar, cayenne pepper and salt; simmer for 5 minutes over low heat. Place nuts in a medium bowl and toss well with butter mixture.
2. Spread onto a baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes, stirring several times. Let cool slightly, then toss in remaining 7 tbsp. sugar. Shake off excess sugar and store in an airtight container.
