Grandma's Sugar Cookies
Grandma's Sugar Cookies
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening or butter
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2-1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 10 to 12 minutes

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Cream together sugar and shortening in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Stir together dry ingredients in a small bowl and add to shortening mixture. Drop by tablespoons onto greased baking sheets and press the top of each cookie with a fork dipped in water. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes 2-1/2 dozen.

So these are drop style cookies. Can I press any design on top as long as I dip it in water?

Not a fan of nutmeg, but if i sub cinnamon, i think they will taste like snickerdoodles! Sounds good to me!!!
