Brown Sugar and Pepper Pecans
Brown Sugar and Pepper Pecans
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 to 1½ tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
3 cups shelled pecans or unsalted nuts
1/4 cup sugar

Prep: 5 minutes, Cook: 30 minutes, Makes: 4 cups or 8 servings

1. Preheat oven to 275ºF. Melt butter in a medium saucepan; stir in brown sugar, peppers and salt.

2. Cook for 1 minute, then stir in nuts. Turn onto a baking sheet with shallow sides, scraping the pan to remove all the butter mixture.

3. Spread in a single layer, then bake for 25 minutes, stirring several times.

4. Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar. Stir several times while nuts are cooling.
