Maple Bacon Donuts
Maple Bacon Donuts
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
2¼ cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. each: baking soda and salt
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup Raley's Maple Bacon, cooked and crumbled

Prep: 30 minutes, Cook: 10 minutes total, Serves: 8

1. Beat together maple syrup, sugar, milk, butter, extract and egg in a large bowl. Stir together all dry ingredients and stir into maple mixture.

2. Gather dough into a ball (dough will be sticky) and pat 1/2 inch thick on a floured board. Cut into circles using a 3-inch floured cutter. Cut out center using a 1-inch floured cutter (or cut from the center with a small sharp knife).

3. Heat several inches of oil to 375°F in a large pot. Fry doughnuts in batches, cooking for 1 minute on each side. Drain on paper towels.

4. To prepare topping, beat together maple syrup and butter in a medium bowl. Beat in powdered sugar until soft and smooth. Spread over cooled doughnuts and sprinkle with bacon.
