Homemade Chai
Homemade Chai
2 cups milk
4 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 tsp. ground black pepper*
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
4 bags black tea
sugar, to taste

Combine 2 cups milk, soymilk or almond milk, 4 tsp. ground ginger, 2 tsp. ground cinnamon, 2 tsp. ground black pepper*, 1 tsp. ground cloves and 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom in a large saucepan; warm over low heat for 10 minutes. Remove from heat; add 4 bags black tea and let steep for 10 minutes. Discard tea bags; pour into cups and add sugar to taste. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

*If you like it a little less spicy, only use 1 tsp. pepper.
