Grilled Naan Bread

Grilled Naan Bread
Ingredients
1 cup lukewarm water
2 tsp. sugar
1 packet quick rise dry yeast
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup melted butter, plus extra for brushing if you like
1-¼ tsp. salt
3-¼ to 3-½ cups flour
Olive oil
Directions

This bread is moist and chewy with just a hint of smoky flavor
from the grill. Best if served 1 hour after cooking.

Prep: 20 minutes, Rise: 1 hour, Cook: about 4 minutes, Serves: 6 to 8

1. Place water and sugar in a large bowl. Sprinkle yeast over the surface and let set stand until foamy. Stir in yogurt, butter, salt and enough flour to make a soft, but still slightly sticky, dough.

2. Knead for 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth; let stand in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.

3.Punch dough down and divide into 6 to 8 equal pieces. Roll each into an oval or round shape about 1/4-inch thick. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes more or until doubled in size.

4. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil and grill over medium-high heat for about 1 minute or until nicely grill-marked. Turn and cook for 2 minutes more, watching carefully to make sure bread doesn’t burn. Brush with additional melted butter, if you like.

Turmeric Naan (that’s the yellow one pictured): Add 1 tsp. turmeric to dough for extra color and flavor.
