All American Burgers with Whiskey Barbecue Sauce
All American Burgers with Whiskey Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
Whiskey Barbecue Sauce:
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup whiskey
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. stone ground mustard
1 tsp. Raley's Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt
1 tsp. pepper

Burgers:
1-1/2 lbs. ground beef (preferably lean)
6 potato buns, toasted
Thinly sliced lettuce (optional topper)
Heirloom tomato slices (optional topper)
Crisp bacon (optional topper)
Crispy onion rings (optional topper)
Directions

Prep: 30 minutes, Cook: 1 hour, 15 minutes, Serves: 6

1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes. Remove cover and increase heat. Cook for 5 minutes more to thicken slightly.

2. Shape beef into 6 very flat patties and grill over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side or until burgers are cooked to your liking.

3. Place burgers in buns with any desired toppings.
