Grilled Steak Frites

Grilled Steak Frites
Ingredients
Marinade:
1/3 cup red wine
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. coarse grind pepper
1 tsp. herbes de Provence
2 medium shallots, chopped
2 large sprigs fresh thyme, lightly crushed
1/2 lb. Raley’s Beef tenderloin or New York steak

Frites:
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 tsp. herbs de Provence
1 tsp. sea salt
2 cloves garlic, minced
Freshly ground pepper to taste
4 large Yukon Gold potatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick
Chopped fresh thyme (optional garnish)
Directions

This grilled take on the French classic makes a nice light dinner or serve as an appetizer. Finish with chopped fresh thyme, if you like.

Prep: 30 minutes  Marinate: 1 to 24 hours  Cook: 15 minutes  Makes: 4 main or 8 appetizer servings

 

1. Place all marinade ingredients in a medium-size resealable bag; squeeze bag gently to mix. Add beef and seal bag; refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight.
2. To prepare frites, stir together oil, mustard, herbs, salt, garlic and pepper in a small bowl. Brush half the mixture over potatoes. Grill over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side or until potatoes are soft and nicely browned. Remove from grill and brush with remaining oil mixture.
3. Grill beef for 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until it’s cooked to your liking. Let stand for 5 minutes, then thinly slice. Place beef on potatoes and drizzle with any accumulated juices. Sprinkle with thyme, if you like.
