Irish Raisin Bread

5 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
2½ cups raisins
2½ cups buttermilk
1 Raley's Egg

Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 1 hour, 15 minutes Makes: 2 loaves or 24 slices

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two loaf pans or two 9-inch cast iron skillets. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in raisins. Add buttermilk and egg to mixture, mixing only until flour is moistened. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes.
