Extra Credit Grants

Raley’s Extra Credit grants promote nutrition education, wellness and food literacy while creating the next generation of healthy eaters. Raley’s Extra Credit grants program will continue to accept proposals that promote nutrition education, wellness and food literacy. At this time, the physical, psychological, developmental, social, and emotional well-being of students are a top priority as well. Raley's understands that schools need time to adapt as they re-open in the fall. We will remain agile as adjustments are made and are here to help support schools infuse their students’ lives with health and happiness.

How It Works

Accredited K-12 academic institutions (public, charter and private) are invited to apply for funding once per school year. Grant amounts are determined by the size and scope of the proposed project—there is no minimum or maximum funding request required. The Raley’s Wellness Education Panel will consider the following when reviewing a proposal:

  • Number of students impacted
  • Commitment from school and school support system
  • Level of school involvement

Examples of grant-funded projects that meet our guidelines include:

  • Sustainable gardens where students get hands-on experience growing fresh produce and learning about the nutritional benefits of produce
  • Programs, materials, and curriculum development focused on student’s health, safety and well being
  • Personal protective equipment, sanitizers
  • Outdoor games
  • Materials needed to ensure social distancing
  • Supplies needed to ensure effective distance learning
  • Refillable water stations that promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity
  • Programs that enhance nutritional content of food served at school
  • Curriculum materials for professional development
  • Programs that promote culinary arts, agriculture, food hospitality, food production and/or basic food science principles (STEM)

Requests that fall outside our giving guidelines include (but are not limited to) the following:

    • Third party requests, such as an organization or team raising funds on behalf of a nonprofit
    • Individual sponsorships, such as sports, beauty, scholastic, or talent competitions or events
    • Events or fundraisers benefiting an individual
    • National or international relief efforts
    • Travel costs or trips
