Holiday Wine Pairings

Planning a holiday dinner, yet unsure of where to start with wine pairings? While many varietals work well with each of the proteins below, here’s a quick cheat sheet to help you find a good match, within any budget. Our wine expert, Curtis Mann, has put together this list of wines to choose from for your holiday feast. A veteran of the California wine industry, Curtis loves to help wine drinkers discover great, affordable wines.

Turkey

This holiday favorite pairs well with Syrah, Zinfandel or Riesling. Or try it with Bonterra Chardonnay.

Ham

Generally pairs with Rosé, Grenache or Moscato. Great with Baileyana Firepeak Pinot Noir, too.

Beef

Try it with Cabernet, Merlot or Barolo. The Rosso di Montalcino Il Poggionne Sangiovese is also an excellent choice.

Lamb

Rioja, Chianti or Rhone are good choices. The Nine Hats Cabernet Sauvignon goes well with lamb as well.

Seafood

Pairs well with Pinot Gris, Barbera or Chardonnay. Also try it with J.J. Vincent Pouilly-Fuissé Marie Antoinette.
