Rotini with Ham, Onions & Peas

Mouthwatering Virginia ham and sweet, green peas come together in this pasta dish with rich parmesan and savory, caramelized onions. Make it yourself in less than 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. Virginia Ham, thick slice, cut into strips
  • 3/4 cups Raley's Frozen Peas
  • 1 cup sliced yellow onion
  • 1 pkg. 8.5 oz. Barilla Ready Pasta, Rotini
  • 4 tbsp. parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp. garlic*
  • 1 1/2 tsp. olive oil*
  • 1/8 tsp. salt*
  • 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper*
  • 2 tbsp. water*
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper flake* (optional)
  • *common pantry item

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large sauté pan over high heat. Add sliced onions, salt and pepper and lower to medium to medium high heat. Cook onions for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become translucent and begin to brown.
  2. Add garlic and ham. Stir and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, heat precooked pasta according to package instructions. Add pasta, peas, water and 3 tbsp. parmesan to the pan. Stir and cook for 1 1/2 minutes.
  4. Divide between 2 plates, garnish with remaining parmesan and red pepper flakes (optional).
