Raley’s Food For Families has been nominated for the Food Marketing Institute’s Community Outreach Award. The honor highlights the frequently unheralded good that grocery stores do. Awards are given in three categories:
- Youth Development programs (education, employment, job readiness, mentoring/tutoring programs)
- Programs addressing Food Insecurity (food drives, food bank donations, commitments to increase access to fresh food in underserved areas)
- Neighborhood Health Improvement programs (nutrition education, blood drives, health related runs/walks, sustainability education and community involvement)
Nominations are judged based on store-level, corporate and community participation, addressing a community need, breadth and depth of the program, originality and creativity. All submissions will be posted on FMI’s Facebook page and the community outreach nominee story with the most likes will also be awarded a $1,000 contribution to their program. All programs will also be featured on FMI’s website and in a video as creative inspiration for other food retailers and to further spread the good deeds done by supermarkets.
