Paul Robins of Y92.5 on a Trek to Raise Dollars for Atkinson Youth Services
By Nicole Townsend | Thursday March 22, 2007
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA – Paul Robins of Y92.5 is taking on the challenge to run 92.5 miles in less than 24 hours, stopping briefly to rest at a dozen local Raley’s and Bel Air stores along his route, to raise $175,000 for a worthy cause.
Paul is raising enough money for five brand-new vans for Atkinson Youth Services, a local non-profit organization that provides group homes and a school for children with special needs. The organization helps children with special needs in the Sacramento area develop the skills they need to live healthy, safe and productive lives. Paul’s Long Run to Raley’s starts at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 29. Leaving from the studios located near Cal Expo, Paul will run his first 10.6 miles to Raley’s at 4850 Freeport Blvd., arriving at approximately 9:25 a.m.
All day and all night he will run through Midtown, Arden Park, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, Granite Bay, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Antelope and North Highlands until Paul arrives at the finish line at Raley’s in Natomas, 4650 Natomas Blvd., at about 7:19 the next morning.
You can check out a full map of Paul’s route at www.raleys.com/paul. Paul has been training for months to get ready, and experimenting with different techniques to keep hydrated and energized. Paul might not be sampling some of the great food served at several daytime Raley’s and Bel Air stops (check the route map at www.raleys.com/paul for details), but he doesn’t mind if you do – as long as you are there to cheer him on and make a donation! Paul needs to raise about $1,900 per mile. There are three easy ways to donate.
Go online to www.raleys.com/paul. Make a donation in person at any Sacramento-area River City Bank. Send a check directly to: Atkinson Youth Services 1906 El Camino Ave. Sacramento, CA 95815
