WEST SACRAMENTO — Raley’s continues to rank among the nation’s top supermarket chains, according to readers of the leading, national consumer magazine. Ranking third nationally alongside Florida-based Publix, Raley’s is the highest ranked full service supermarket chain in its Northern California and Northern Nevada market areas.
Raley’s received the highest possible marks for service, which was defined as “staff helpfulness and checkout speed,” according to the survey published in the magazine’s May issue. Overall, the chain received an 84 out of 100, with top place, New York-based Wegman’s earning 87.
“We are, once again, thrilled to be the top full service supermarket in our market areas, and proud that this survey shows consumers continue to think so highly of us,” said Bill Coyne, Raley’s President & CEO. “This ranking is a credit to our world-class colleagues and the exceptional service they provide to our customers.”
The four categories surveyed included: service, perishables, price and cleanliness. The ratings were based on 32,599 consumer responses to a survey conducted between April 2007 and April 2008. A major focus of the survey, and accompanying article, was helping consumers find value.
“We understand that value means offering more than simply savings,” Coyne said. “Especially in these tough economic times, customers need to feel valued and appreciated for choosing to spend their hard-earned dollars with us.”
