Elk Grove Store Director Named 2008 Inductee
By Amy Johnston | Friday June 20, 2008
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA – Randy Konkel serves as the Store Director of the Bel Air Market in Elk Grove on Laguna Blvd. On Thursday, June 19, he was awarded the company’s highest honor and was selected as this year’s inductee to the President’s Club, which commemorates exemplary Store Directors in the Company.
With 32 years of dedicated service to Raley’s, Randy has adopted a genuine, hands-on leadership approach that has served him well in his role as a Store Director and a giving member of his community. He has a consistent presence on the sales floor, assisting customers and colleagues alike.
As a result of his passion and enthusiasm for coaching and training colleagues, Randy oversaw a number of seminars for every store team member to personally deliver information to his store crew.
“Randy’s leadership at the Laguna Blvd. Bel Air Market has created an atmosphere of superior teamwork and camaraderie among his colleagues,” said Raley’s President and CEO Bill Coyne. “He maintains a successful balance between work, family and community involvement. We are thrilled to honor him for his dedication and hard work.”
Randy graciously donates his time to a number of community events and organizations. Through his participation in the Sacramento County Fair Live Stock auction, he brings Raley’s into the lives of the customers and greater-community. In the Elk Grove community, he helps plan and organize events for the Elk Grove Teen Center. Randy also serves his church in many different ways from weekly Bible studies in his home to helping with the children’s ministry on Friday nights and Sunday mornings.
Randy lives in Elk Grove with his wife, Lisa, and four children. His three sons also work for Bel Air Market. A true family-man, he’s often seen around town at his sons’ rock band performances and his daughter’s cheerleading competitions.
Nominations for the President’s Club came from Raley’s District Managers and were based on the nominee’s level of professionalism, community involvement, major accomplishments, work/life balance and achievement of Raley’s vision, mission and values. Raley’s vision is to “enhance the quality of people’s lives” and its mission is to be “the place customers love to shop and employees love to work.” Also nominated for the President’s Club this year were John Phillips of Raley’s in Folsom (on Blue Ravine Road) and Rick Stone of Raley’s in Modesto (on Floyd Avenue).
