Vendors and Products You Can Trust

At Raley’s, we feel strongly about transparency and believe you have a right to know exactly where your food comes from. That is why we only work with a few trusted supplier-partners for our meat, poultry, and eggs.

All of the meat, poultry, and eggs sold in our stores is sourced by external vendors, but we are committed to offering high-quality food produced by vendors that meet or exceed our ethical standards. 

We believe that proper animal care practices are based on science, ethical obligations, and values. Raley’s is committed to choices that are better for you — and better for our planet. Humane and sustainable sourcing is about making a conscious, positive difference. Raley’s believes in treating people and animals with dignity and fairness, as respect lies at the very core of our company’s vision.

Raley’s requires suppliers to comply with all government regulations, including the Lacey Act, Animal Welfare Act, and more. The Lacey Act bans trafficking of certain wildlife and falsely identifying fish imported or received from foreign countries. The Animal Welfare Act regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition, transport, and by dealers. 

We pledge to collaborate with suppliers that ensure safe, healthy, and humane conditions throughout the supply chain.

Sustainable Seafood

Selling only sustainable seafood affirms our responsibility for ocean stewardship. We buy seafood only from clearly traceable sources. This means our vendors must provide evidence via third-party certification and chain-of-control documents that products do not come from sources that utilize any non-sustainable methods.

Cage-Free Eggs

Raley’s has sourced only cage-free eggs for our private label offerings since 2016. Raley’s brand eggs include the Certified Humane® Raised and Handled® label, ensuring the product comes from farms where Humane Farm Animal Care’s precise, objective standards for the humane treatment of farm animals are implemented.

As a chain, Raley’s has set a goal of sourcing only cage-free eggs for all other brands in 2021, based on availability.

Beef

Raley’s established a partnership with Harris Ranch Beef to supply our family of stores with USDA Choice beef. Cattle feed is tested to ensure it is free of pesticide residue, and finished beef is screened for antibiotic residues that exceed USDA limits.

Raley’s Natural Beef is USDA Choice beef raised with no antibiotics or added hormones. The cattle are born, raised, fed, and harvested solely in the USA and third party verified for humane handling. 

Raley’s grass fed beef is sourced from family-owned and operated SunFed Ranch, who raises cattle in the seasonal grass growing regions of Northern California and Oregon. In addition to being grass fed and grass finished, the cattle are raised with no antibiotics or added hormones. 

Pork

Raley’s pork is sourced from suppliers who are Pork Quality Assurance® Plus certified. It is minimally processed with no added hormones and no artificial ingredients or colors.

Coleman Natural pork is responsibly raised with both Pork Quality Assurance® and American Humane Certified™ certifications, which covers how they raise, transport, and harvest the animal. It is minimally processed with no artificial ingredients. The hogs are raised 100% crate free, on non-GMO feed and never administered antibiotics or added growth promotants, such as ractopamine and beta antagonists.

Raley’s is committed to working with our suppliers to source pork free from gestation stalls by the end of 2021. 

Chicken

Raley’s brand chicken meets the USDA Animal Standards and is raised cage free without antibiotics, added growth hormones, or preservatives.

Raley’s organic chickens are also free of all antibiotics, added growth hormones, and preservatives. Additionally, they are free range and fed USDA organic, non-GMO feed, which means you do not have to worry about any animal byproducts.  

Foster Farms Simply Raised Branded Chicken is American Humane Certified and raised cage free without antibiotics, added growth hormones, or preservatives. The chickens are cage free, free range, vegetarian-fed, and raised locally in California.  

Raley’s utilizes 100% recyclable trays to package all three chicken brands. 

Lamb

Raley’s has partnered with Farmer’s Mark American Lamb in Dixon, California, to supply our stores with vegetarian-fed lamb that is free of antibiotics and supplemental growth hormones. The animals are raised with care by family ranchers, who put the flock first. The facility, which complies with FSIS Directive 6900.2, is USDA-inspected and third party verified by the Global Food Safety Initiative. 

Living Local

Raley’s strives to buy products directly from local farms in order to reduce our carbon footprint and offer fresh, local produce. Our Living Local program sources produce from family-owned operations located within 50 miles of the store to which their product is delivered. All Living Local products meet our strict quality and food safety standards.
