Raley's Reach Online Voting Period Kicks Off
Over 130 Schools Compete for Five $5,000 Grants To Be Determined By Community Votes

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA— In a continued effort to give back to the community, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores has partnered with Unilever to provide $25,000 in grants to make a difference in Northern California and Nevada schools through Raley’s Reach.

From Aug. 17 – Sept. 2, PTAs, booster clubs, parents and community members submitted more than 130 school nominations – and now it’s in the hands of the online community to log on and cast their votes for the school they’d like to see benefit from one of five $5,000 grants at www.raleys.com/reach.

The top school with the most votes in each of the five specified regions throughout Northern California and Nevada will receive $5,000 to put toward their stated back-to-school need. The voting period takes place from Sept. 6-23 with winners announced Sept. 30.

The five regions defined by geographically located groups of counties are:

Region 1 – Northern Nevada Region: Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Humboldt and Washoe counties

Region 2 – North Foothill Region: Butte, Shasta, Siskiyou, Nevada, Sutter and Tehama counties

Region 3 – Greater Sacramento Region: Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Solano and Yolo counties

Region 4 – Central Valley Region: Madera, Merced, San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties

Region 5 – Greater Bay Region: Alameda, Contra Costa, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Sonoma counties

With a long-standing reputation of giving back to Northern California and Nevada communities for more than 75 years, Raley’s offers the unique opportunity for grants to go where participants recognize the greatest need. The Raley’s – Unilever partnership offers the perfect opportunity to make a difference in local schools.

“We are thrilled to be able to give back to schools when so many programs face budget cuts and resources are scarce,” said Jennifer Teel-Wolter, Raley’s Community Relations Manager. “Many of our past Raley’s Reach nominees have been incredibly creative and passionate in their efforts to secure votes, and we’re excited to see how involved communities get to compete for these funds.”

The Raley’s Reach program was first launched in May of 2010 in honor of Raley’s 75th Anniversary. To date, Raley’s Reach has awarded more than $90,000 in grants to 15 community projects throughout Northern California and Nevada.

Raley's is a privately owned supermarket chain with headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. The company is comprised of four chains — Raley's, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source — located in Northern California and Nevada.
