Food For Families Holiday Bags: A Solution to Giving for All Budgets
Launches Wednesday, Nov. 18, 100% of Donations Benefits Local Food Banks

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – According to reports from the Associated Press, charitable organizations in the U.S. expect to see a nearly 10% decline in year-end giving. At a time when food banks are at their greatest need of donations, Raley’s Food For Families offers a solution – a way to give for those short on time and working with tighter budgets through the annual Holiday Bag campaign.

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 18 and running through Thursday, Dec. 24, the annual program allows customers to double their giving – they can purchase a bag of wholesome, nonperishable groceries valued at $20 for only $10 in partnership with Raley’s to benefit a local food bank. As Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees, 100% of donations goes directly to the partnering agency, which then distributes donations to the hungry in the neighborhood – ensuring that contributions remain in the community in which they are collected.

Through the Food For Families program, customers can donate without making any additional errands or spending extra time driving to an agency to give, as donations are accepted at every checkstand in all Raley’s, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores.

Consumers can make giving back one less worry and can give in a manner that fits their budgets. In addition to the Holiday Bags, customers can drop spare change in the checkstand collection boxes or add as much as they like to their grocery bill at checkout. “Donating to Food For Families does not take any additional time and the program allows customers to give in a way that they’re comfortable – whether $1 or $100, any donation this season is welcomed, as more individuals will depend on support from their local food bank this holiday season,” said Nancy McGagin, Executive Director of Food For Families.
