WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Raley’s Food For Families holiday bag program doubles customers’ charitable giving by offering a $10 bag of wholesome, nonperishable food valued at more than $20 to benefit local food banks.

Now through Saturday, Dec. 31, customers can purchase the half-price bag of groceries containing more than 23 pounds of food at any Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods or Food Source location. In addition to purchasing a holiday bag in stores, customers can also donate online at www.raleys.com/order.

Last season, Raley’s customers and employees helped raise a grand total of 2,272,563 pounds of food through the holiday bag program. This year’s goal is to once again raise 2 million pounds of food to help families in need this holiday season.

At a time when food banks are at their greatest need for donations, Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees to ensure that 100% of donations go directly to local food banks. The partnering food bank then distributes donations to the hungry in that neighborhood, so contributions remain in the community in which they are collected. Raley’s is partnered with 72 food banks throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada.

“We’ve seen a 30-35% increase in the need for food assistance in the past year alone,” said John Healey, President and CEO of California Emergency Foodlink. “One-third of all the food that we receive is from Food For Families — we wouldn’t be able to feed the hungry without this program.”

Through the Food For Families program, customers have a convenient, budget-friendly solution to support their local food banks without making any additional errands or spending extra time driving to an agency to give. In addition to the holiday bags, donations to the Food For Families program can be made in any increment year-round at a collection box located at every checkstand in all stores.
