Hearty Marinara Sauce
Hearty Marinara Sauce
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 small onion, peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 (14.5- oz.) cans diced tomatoes
1 (6- oz.) can tomato paste
1/2 cup Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or other hearty wine
2 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried marjoram
1 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

Prep: 10 minutes, Cook: 1 to 2 hours, Makes: 5½ cups

1. In a large stockpot, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until softened. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.

2. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour, or 2 hours for a heartier flavor. Serve over hot cooked pasta.
