Poached Pears with Cabernet Chocolate Sauce
Poached Pears with Chocolate Sauce
1 ripe but firm pear, peeled
2 cups sweet dessert wine (such as Bogle Petite Sirah Port)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
2 large pieces orange peel
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 cup A good-quality chocolate sauce

Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 20 minutes Serves: 2

1. Cut pear in half and remove core and seeds with a
baller. Place in a small saucepan with wine, water, sugar,
orange peel and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil; reduce
heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn and cook for 10
minutes more.
2. Remove from liquid and let cool. Place
each pear half in a dessert dish and drizzle with
chocolate sauce.
