Southern Sweet Tea

Southern Sweet Tea
1 quart water
2 cups sugar
12 tea bags (such as Lipton or Luzianne)

Prep: 5 minutes, Steep: 20 minutes, Makes: 1 gallon

1. Bring water and sugar to a boil in a large pot. Remove pot from heat; add tea bags and allow tea to steep for 20 minutes.

2. Pour tea into a gallon-size pitcher or into two 2-quart pitchers, then add enough cold water to fill the pitcher. Remove and discard tea bags. Stir until well-mixed and serve over ice in tall glasses.

Tip: You can also add the sugar after the tea has steeped, but only while tea is still warm.
