Coffee Toffee Crunch

Coffee Toffee Crunch
1/4 cup espresso roast whole coffee beans
2 (5.5- oz.) bags Werther's Original Hard Candies
1/3 cup milk chocolate chips, OR
1/3 cup bittersweet chocolate chips

Prep: 10 minutes, Cook: 10 minutes, Cool: 1 hour, Makes: 6 servings

1. Place coffee beans in a freezer bag and pound with a meat mallet or the 
bottom of a heavy skillet to crush.

2. Remove wrappers from candies and melt over low heat in a large saucepan, stirring frequently. Stir in crushed coffee beans with pan still over heat.

3. Quickly spread as thin as possible over a large piece of parchment paper. Top with chocolate chips and let stand for 1 minute to melt. Spread chocolate evenly over top. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces. Store in an airtight container.
