Easy Turkey

Easy Turkey
1 (16-lb.) whole turkey
1/4 cup Sunnyside Farms Butter, softened
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. rosemary
1 tsp. sage
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. pepper

People think roasting a turkey is a challenge. It’s actually one of the easiest things to prepare!

Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 3 to 5 hours, depending on the size of the turkey Serves: 10 to

1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Rinse turkey and pat dry; remove packets with the giblets and neck from cavity of turkey. Place turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan.
2. Stir together butter and seasonings and rub on all sides of turkey.
3. Roast for 3 hours or until
a meat thermometer inserted into the thigh registers 165°F, tenting loosely with foil if it browns too quickly. Let rest for 30 minutes before carving.

Do NOT open the oven door to baste with juices.
Nothing penetrates the skin, it just rolls right off. You’re just cooling off your oven and this can also lead to a dry turkey.
It’s safer to cook your stuffing outside the turkey as a stuffed bird may not get to a high enough internal temperature.
For crispier skin, rinse and dry your turkey 1 day ahead of cooking. Place in a roasting pan and let stand in the refrigerator, uncovered, to dry the surface.
